Laguna Seca 1993
My first visit to Laguna Seca
was in 1993 for the Makita 300 PPG Indy Car World Series race at the
Grand Prix of Monterey. |
Emerson Fittipaldi took pole position and is seen here, alongside
teammate Paul Tracy, leading the field in formation round the final
turn before the start of the fog-delayed race.
The field of 29 cars streams down the front straight.
After winning the Formula One championship in 1992, Nigel Mansell
moved over to Indy Car in 1993 and won that championship too.

Paul Tracy locks a wheel and smokes a tire, but that doesn't stop
him from going on to win the race in his Marlboro Penske PC93 Chevy
V8/C.
